IAED — the International Association for Peace and Economic Development — is an Association of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF). IAED Africa carries that vision across the continent.
Our mission
To contribute to the development and maintenance of a culture of peace, harmony and shared prosperity in Africa by advancing inclusive and sustainable economic development grounded in universal values.
IAED connects two things that are usually treated separately: peacebuilding and economic development. Lasting peace needs a solid economic foundation, and real prosperity needs peace to take root.
Our vision
Communities lifted up
Economic development that reaches ordinary people, not just balance sheets.
Leaders who act responsibly
Business leaders who treat moral responsibility as part of the job.
Nations working together
Cooperation that crosses borders instead of stopping at them.
Peace through shared prosperity
Peace that grows stronger when more people share in the benefits of growth.
Our core values
- Interdependence
- Mutual prosperity
- Universal values
- Living for the sake of others
- Ethical leadership and integrity
- Respect for cultural and religious diversity
The Universal Peace Federation
UPF is an international and interreligious network of individuals and organizations dedicated to world peace, and an NGO in general consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council. It supports the work of the United Nations, particularly in interfaith peacebuilding, peace education, and the strengthening of marriage and family. IAED Africa operates in accordance with UPF principles and coordinates its programs with UPF Africa and the IAED Global Coordinator.
